red dot sight suggestion, eotech or burris fastfire?

I have an eotech512 mounted on my ultimak rail. the ak model is slr106fr 5.56 and feels too front end heavy with this setup.

should i buy a burris fastfire for this rifle? Will it fry the fastfire since it's mounted directly above the rails?


same goes it for my socom 16, too front end heavy. i really want to get a fastfire, but want to make sure that it will hold zero w/ 5.56 or .308.

Hi Mike, no personal experience, but IIRC, gunut over GT had posted that his Eotech mounted like yours on the AK was fried.

Micro from Aimpoint

Consider the Micro series from Aimpoint.
I have one on my AKM and my MK14 Mod 1.

I really want the aimpoint, but that means i would have to sell both my Eotechs.

do yall think the fastfire will handle the heat from mounting above the ultimak rail?

Aimpoint. Get a used ML2 and low ring for less than an EoThing, battery will last longer and it's more heat resistant to boot.

If light weight is an absolute priority, get the micro. BSW

People showing up at "Carbine Classes" are using Aimpoint or EOtech, that is the only option for "serious CQB." I have an Aimpoint Micro on an SLR106, and once you try that combination there is no turning back. If you're not LEO, military, or feel the need for "night-vision goggles", go to www.smartgunner.com and pick up an Aimpoint Micro H-1 for about $475.00 delivered, which is not a bad price for an optic that only needs a battery change every five years. My SLR106 is "still" front-end heavy, that's the nature of the beast, however, the few "ounces" the Micro add beat anything else on the market.

The Aimpoints, whether they are the older M2/M3 series, or the new T1/H1, will take the heat and abuse, no question, and they are the premier battery operated red dot, in durablity and longetivity, they can't be beat.

I had a Comp M2 mounted on my 106FR, then I changed it out to the T-1. Either one will allow co-witnessing with the irons in the lower 1/3rd of the optic.
