I'm looking for some decent red-dot sights for my Kel-Tec SU-16B...something like the EOTech holosight or the Aimpoint red-dot sight. No magnification is needed, though if it has low-power (up to 4x max) magnification that's all right.

My budget is somewhat limited, and I've been put off by the $300+ price tags for the Aimpoint and EOTech sights. Many of the folks at AR15.com have posted mixed (but generally positive) reviews of the Hakko Tacpoint, which is an Aimpoint clone for a fraction of the cost.

For reference: This is not my "home defense rifle" (though it could double in that regard, but my 12ga Mossberg fits the bill quite a bit better), nor is it some uber-battle rifle. I have no intention of engaging in any sort of combat (I got out of the army last year -- those days are [hopefully] behind me) other than possibly a tactical rifle training course or some such.

Comments? Suggestions?

Pete - all I can maybe suggest as a sorta compromize is a Millet red dot - I have one on each of my SRH's and they seem to take the punishment. I think too with red dots, magnification is not needed - plain 1:1 seems best.

Docter, Eotech and such are very nice but hey - price is high eh - I have a Bushnell Holosight on my BFR but got that for a reduced price of approx $170.

The Millet IIRC should be around the $100 or just over.... and is 1" dia.

I do use a Bushnell Trophy Red Dot (four reticles settings) on my .22 Ruger - and that ain't bad at around IIRC the $70 region - but not sure it would be quite so robust.

BSA 30mm reddot I got at Wal-Mart for $30 works fine for me. :)
I too wanted an EOTech, but couldn't bear to spend $300+ for one. :what:

Ultradot makes a great red dot sight for right around $100-$120. They are popular at Camp Perry for pistol competition. They are solid enough to be mounted directly to the slide of a 1911 and not fail from recoil.

Your other option is to check ebay for some of the non-military versions of the sights you like. I found an Aimpoint Comp C for around $200, and I see bushnel holosights--the unarmored versions of the eotech-for under $200 all the time.

good luck,

AimShot

After 25 rounds the lens fell out. The AimShot holograpic sight isn't worth the postage it costs to send it back in my opinion.

Now I'm wondering if a 1x28 Bushness red dot would give me fast enough target acquisition for a tactical shotgun. If not, I'll probably get the BSA 50mm Red dot.
