Plucked my money down on a Ruger LCP custom.

The middle child between the original lcp, and the redesigned lcp 2. The custom has a wide red aluminum trigger, the greater purchase supposedly helps offset the heavy pull.

The model comes with a stainless steel guide rod, as well as usable sights. While not actual a front night sight, it's chargeable under a light source.

The slide looks to be more of a polished, blued finish.

As a revolver guy looking for lighter, flatter, smaller than a j frame I took the plunge. I had an original lcp in 2010 or so, carried frequently.

I plan to get some extended 7 rounders, and maybe a 13 lb recoil spring to help with recoil. I may shoot it first to see where we are.

She's in jail til Sunday!

Anyone have one of these? I must have missed their 2015 debut. Happily carring an lcp or lcr.

I liked the sights. I didn't like the striker fire trigger of the lcp2 or lcp max.

Galloway also has some traction grips you can apply with a heat gun. Thinking that might be nice, or there's the hogue style wrap around.

Any custom owners experience take down pin issues? I'm looking at their improved take down pin but noticed it said not for lcp customs.

From what I can discern the lcp 1 and custom seem to use identical take down pins. I contacted Galloway and they were quick to reply, but the worker couldn't tell me why they noted that.

I'm mulling over grabbing one and just seeing...take down pin is always an Achilles heel in this design IMO.

I never carried that one, but I carried the 1 and the 2 regularly.

Mine have been reliable. They are inherently more than accurate enough for their job.

It's just a question of practicing enough until you can shoot them decently.

I generally prefer my snub revolver, but in this kind of weather, I often carry an LCP in the outer breast pocket of a jacket or coat. It's right there whether you're sitting walking, standing, driving, whatever. With a good pocket holster that holds it in place well, it's a very fast draw.

Last time I carried the lcp 1 I think I used a DeSantis nemesis

I don't have a Custom, but I did buy a LCP Custom trigger to install myself in my LCP1, gen2 model... I actually didn't like how it felt compared to the original polymer trigger! Maybe I was just so used to the polymer trigger, but the new flat faced trigger felt a bit awkward to me. I ended up putting the polymer trigger back in, and sold the aluminum one.

Grabbed a couple 7 rounders from ebay of all placed, best deal for a two-fer.

There have been a lot of lcp variants...I really liked the sites! Not sure on the trigger yet, we'll have to see. Been about 5 years since I traded the last lcp on a 938 sig, so it'll be starting over fresh I'm sure.

I don't mind the recoil on airweight snubs with the right ammo. Resolved that if the lcp aggravated a wrist injury too much, I'd trade it on a 21a inox or lcp22. I'm essentially replacing an naa mini for a very small piece.

Those triggers are there to satisfy buyers who grew up more on Glocks than on DA revolvers or DA-capable autoloaders. They work. However, the LCP guns are still hammer-fired. I have the MAX and one other "dingus-triggered" gun, a Taurus G2C. Both are good guns, and I am getting used to the triggers, but I doubt I'll ever actually favor them over what I've been shooting for well over three decades prior.

I've owned a LCP Custom for a couple of years now. It's in my sweat pants or shorts pocket at all times while I'm at home. Like Tallball, I will place it in a jacket or coat pocket in cold weather. Mine has been reliable and accurate at self defense distances. I have dedicated HD and CCW guns but I look at the LCP Custom as insurance.

I owned an LCP Custom. It's a superb little pocket pistol. My frame cracked after 1500 rounds and Ruger substituted it for an LCP2. It is not an upgrade in my opinion. The mag dropped on mine 100% of the time with a two handed combat grip. I installed a Hogue grip and now it only drops 25% of the time. I never had that happen with my Gen 1 LCP, my Custom or KelTec P32.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that. It feels about as heavy as a Bic lighter so I wonder about long term durability. I'm not interested in the lcp 2. I hope this one holds up.

So far, so good. I put it through its paces. It fed everything. Remington ball, perfecta, aguila, xtps, various ans sundry jhp. I loaded mixed mags of Winchester and sig flat point, ball, all kinds of hp shapes.

Not one jam. Maybe 200 rounds total. I appreciate the actual sites. I shot at a steel target at 20 yards. It's a keeper.

It came with one 6 round mag, I bought 2 7 rounders and spread that amount across all 3 mags.

Again, that was a very good acquisition. To me they seem like the smallest and most convenient pistols that are adequate for SD. There are tons of different ways to carry them that make them unnoticeable to everyone, including yourself. I've owned various versions for over ten years. Mine have been reliable, and after a lot of practice I can shoot them about as well or almost as well as my snubs. Great addition to your CC rotation. :)

Bought a pachymar grip sleeve that arrived today, but after shooting it stock it really isn't necessary.

I have a wrist injury but found the recoil very miniscule. Maybe the steel guide rod helps? I don't remember my initial lcps recoil being this minimal.

I'd also ordered a 13lb recoil spring in anticipation of uncomfortable recoil. Since I found the recoil agreeable and can't argue with zero malfunctions across every type of round I tried, I'll just keep the current spring set up unless it starts giving me issues. Might still put the sleeve on just for fun.

Yesterday, discovered it fits perfectly in the watch pocket of my jeans and stayed put, fully concealed.

Right now, I'm using xtps and considering alternating with fmj flat points since I know now that mixed mags won't cause an issue.

Maybe all the trigger time spent the last few years on the 642 and 340 pd (yep...with magnums...) has made the locked breech 380s no big deal!
