Redfield No. 75 Aperture back sight?

The ball bearings (sight click balls) for the detents are missing from the elevation and windage adjustments. Someone replaced both with what appear to be short sections of drill bit. Fortunately both springs are present. I believe ball bearings 0.0820” diameter might work.

Not much information on these sights available on the internet.

Prefer a part source within Canada.

The other thread was "Closed" for some reason. No further ahead but thanks. Ordering anything from the US can be very difficult to import.

Found this on another site.

"It's fairly difficult to purchase a couple ball bearings in small quantities. I suggest you use the mentioned Redfield sight repairer, or you could use the following link, but you'd have to buy 100 (for $6!) for ones a little smaller (metric)."

Anticipate serious problems importing anything gun related into Canada.

The link you included looks very interesting...

I've been in hardware stores that have little ball bearings, bring the sight with you to fit them. Don't miss the Industrial Supply places.

MartinS,

I'll trust my handy Mitutoyo. Bringing the sight along in one's pocket is not nearly as straight forward as you might assume. To get at the two mounting screws you basically need to field strip the whole sight. I try to keep everything bolted together unless I have good reason to do otherwise. These sights have tiny parts that tend to migrate like so much pollen in any air drafts. A wide, soft cloth under the rifle, a bright light, magnifying glass, and a telescopic magnet close at hand are almost de rigor before one begins.
