Reeder vs Bowen

Waterboy has a pretty good handle on the entire forum, and how Reeder works.

Reeder's value is in his hunting notes, the hunting experience of the guys he has there as well. Frankly, he has his crew, and they get together, and have a good time hunting. The feedback from his hunts has value, and gives me some ideas.

I've often thought the .475 and .500's would work well with 350 grain bullets.
Reeder has used these, and on most game in North America, they work just fine. Also the guy that reloads for him, Andy, has some great prices on
reloaded ammunition, in particular in some of the weird calibers like the
.500GR, a short .500 Linebaugh case.

It's good to hear there is more then one way to skin, or kill a cat.

I've never found a gun from him at a price low enough to justify buying it.

Reeder has his niche market, and more power to him.

I also think the shortness comes from being a workaholic, and just getting stretched so thin he snaps.

In his favor, having a guy that actually works a LOT, doesn't procrastinate, and gets stuff done is something that you may find hard to find in some pistolsmiths. I've waited a VERY long time for a couple guns from some very big name guys.

No doubt, he has a wealth of hunting knowledge and experience. I'm just not willing to tolerate the BS but I did think about getting his book.

I also have to say that after seeing recent pics of his #5, it is one of the ugliest sixguns I have ever laid eyes on. Elmer Keith is surely rolling in his grave over that abomination.

I just looked at that gun. I wouldn't own it if you GAVE it to me. Well, maybe,;) but I'd sell it ASAP.

Look at his options list, and you have to admit he's created his own, unique sandbox for his guns.

The ultimate barby gunmaker.

Sadly it seems like guys with a lot of handgun hunting experience ARE generally Reeder like.:barf:

As close as I can tell, the experience of really thumping something with a heavy caliber handgun REALLY changes the way you view firearms, and you consider everyone else, even rifle hunters, ignorant on the effects of handgun hunting.
