Refinishing a 1972 Winchester '94

Just bought a sight unseen '94 here off THR's classifieds. Then I read that during the early '70's, Winchester experimented with a steel that will not take a bluing. They had to iron plate the receiver, then blue the finish. Well, mine is coming off in small speckled areas. If I were to bead blast the receiver, would a parkerizing take to this metal?? Any other options since bluing is out? Hard chrome?

Unfortunately, this place is 25 miles from my house but 2500 from yours. However, they claim they can put durable mil-spec black oxide coating on just about anything short of a tomato.

They might be able to tell you.
