I purchased a S&W 649 (38 Special) from an auction. This revolver has been reworked by someone. The timing is good and no play in the cylinder. It has a 3 inch barrel that I believe was made for a model 60. The cylinder is not fluted and the main spring is from a SP101 I think. It functons good but shot low so I removed the front sight. My question is can I shoot 38+P's in this safely? The gun is all stainless.

Contact Smith and Wesson for a sure answer. I have one for my backup gun and I do shoot Plus P's, but very limited amount. Only for qualification and back up use.
