Reliable Compact 9mm

Technically the Glock 19 is a compact and the Glock 26, 29 and 30 are sub-compacts so the term is somewhat relative.
But for what I consider a compact pistol I'm pleased with the G43 and Sig 365. I tried to like the 43X, but for me if I want the longer grip, I also want a longer barrel and slide. I have a G48 MOS inbound one day this week. Going to give it a try.

I like my H&K P30SK. Technically, it is considered a compact but it is large.

Not as large as my Glock 17.

The P30SK and several other H&K models have three different trigger choices to suit your needs. I have one with the V3 (DA/SA) and one with the LEM trigger.

It was loading the magazines. Recoil does not seem to be an issue

Then try one of these for 9mm to .45 acp

with one of these clipped on the bottom of it

I specifically purchased the above combo because loading my 9mm 1911 magazines is harder than loading typical double stack mags for me.

If you like the P-10C, and want a compact carry pistol, you will love the P-10S. It shoots like it's a much bigger gun, and I've seen this across a sample size of three.

P-10S on top of a P-10C.

Son's preferred CCW pistol - note muzzle flip is negligible, judging by the ejected case in air.

Heck, I am carrying mine right now. That's a High Noon Slide Guard holster for a G19 I re-boned for the P-10S. Great summer gun.

Not too shabby accuracy wise.

First rounds ever fired at 25 yards.

Might be a good CZoice for you.

As I first posted… It was loading the magazines.
My apologies if I made you repeat yourself.. but I did read all the way through this thread and hadn’t seen that.. maybe I missed it somewhere. Anyway, as others have chimed in, what you need is a mag loader like uplula more than a different gun. Personally, I find 1911 mags easier to stuff rounds into than most double stack 9’s but you may feel differently. If you you decide you need a new gun I would suggest 1. No glocks (you’re used to the 1911 grip angle) 2. No subcompacts .. maybe even no compacts (the smaller versions of duty guns tend to have shorter, stiffer springs and are usually harder to load than their full size counterparts.) 3. Avoid the newer sig sauers (p320, p365 in trying maximize capacity their geometry seems harder to load unless you always short the mag several rounds)
I think a Springfield xd could be a good fit for you given its likeness to your 1911. Cz or S&w also good options.
You may also want to consider whether the smaller rounds (9mm vs 45) may be harder for your fingers to handle without fulmbling. Perhaps borrow a buddy’s 9mm to try loading.

If you like the 1911 why not go with one of the hi power clones on the market. I've got a few Girsan hi powers, both shoot well. That do make a aluminum frame compact for a good price. The new LW version is optic ready and has a rail and a beaver tail. Not had a chance to handle one yet. PXL_20240322_194038251~2.jpg

Went to Sportsman s Warehouse to get a P10C and they were out as usual. I bitched about not getting my Military Discount last time having it shipped to Store and they said What!! Manager said talk to me next time.... ordered and on Sale and Mil Discount. Anyway Thank You for all the help from your collective knowledge shared!:)

Love my Ruger LC9. Holds 10 with extended mags. Always goes bang. Eats everything i’ve feed it.

I see that you've made a decision...but if it doesn't work out for you, here are my thoughts:

My vote goes to a Sig 365...got some plastic in it however...but still the best CC piece I've yet run into. Mine's just about 100% reliable over the past 1500 rounds or so including LSWC's, JHP's and a variety of FMJ's. Good/great sights, ergonomics that fit my size "L" paws, and a trigger I can work with. I don't like plastic in a pistol either, but the 365 is one hellofa handgun. Did mention 10+1 loading with supplied mags?

For an all metal, try the P225a1 by Sig. It's a single stack, 9mm with 8 + 1 load out. Typical Sig DA/SA trigger system, night sights and a good trigger in both modes, it'll do nicely if you don't need battalion strength ammunition load out. Mine has virtually the same reliability as my 365 above....the single stack mag BTW, makes it markedly thinner than any of Sig's double stack models....and may feel closer to your 1911's. It did for me.

Best regards Rod
