Do you reload the following 45 ACP brass with any of the following headstamps?

WCC w/primer pocket crimp removed
*I*
TZZ
CCI
G.F.L.
RWS
MFS
w-w
Blazer

Have about 100 pieces of the various headstamps and would like to use, trade or send to the scrap yard.

No Blazer or CCI because of the small primer pockets.

Pretty sure I have used all of those. Except Blazer, aren't they aluminum? I don't worry about headstamp for 45 ACP, just avoid the small pistol primed brass.

The Blazer appears to be solid brass, but it does have the small primer pocket. This is the only piece of 45 acp brass I have with a small primer pocket so I probably won't mess with it at this time.

W-W is the milsurp Winchester headstamp , is it not ?

I seem to recognize some of these :)

They are all reloadable headstamps, except any blazer you may find thats aluminum.

Assuming it is brass brass, there is some MFS, RWS, and Fiocchi (GFL) in steel cases. If Boxer primed it will reload but will not last as long as brass. Check those brands for Berdan primers - usually two flashholes.

I have had issues with the "I" marked cases. Got so bad I just chucked em in the scrap bucket.

I've used all of them and they are all good. Twenty years or so ago some of the TZZs didn't want to size properly so I threw them away. But the rest and more recent production were fine and I still reload them. The only brand nowadays to specifically avoid is AMERC. Out of round. Way off center flash holes, etc. Blazer brass and CCI are very good and come in both large and small primer size. Ditto on saving the small holed ones until you have enough to make a run. They work exactly the same.

There was nothing in the list that wasn't reloadable. Just add primers, powder and bullets, then repeat as necessary.......

Hope this helps.

Fred

I have and use all of the above. I also have a about 200+ pieces of PPU brass. PPU has been one of my favorite head stamps to load. They clean well, and seem to be made very well.

Another yes for Blazer Brass with small size primers. It's just really annoying when it slips into a batch of normal .45 brass and interrupts the progressive press when the LPP won't go in.

I have a couple hundred of the W-W headstamped.. I think when I bought it, the guy said it was LE brass.. I really don't care.. it shoots..

W-W = Winchester Western

*I* = Independence Ammo, their brass works fine for me.

CCI - Blaser - Speer - Federal are all ATK companies and the brass is good.

G.F.L. = Fiocchi and it's also good brass although the primer pockets can be a little tight.

I think TZZ is Israeli brass and it reloads just fine.

TZZ brass is made by IMI. A lot of it was bought under contract by the U.S. Military. It's good brass, but it does need the primer crimp removed.

Hope this helps.

WCC w/primer pocket crimp removed = Winchester military contract.
*I* = Independance Ammo = A house-brand of ATK- CCI, Speer, Federal, Blazer Brass.
TZZ = Israeli military
CCI = CCI/Speer/Blazer/Federal, all ATK and reload pretty much identical
G.F.L. = Fiocchi, Italian
RWS = (German, Rheinisch-Westfälische Sprengstoff A.-G.)
MFS = (Fiocchi import, made in Hungary)
w-w = Winchester-Western. Same as Winchester (WIN).
Blazer = CCI Blazer Brass, which is ATK, which is also Federal & is the same as Speer in terms of reloading.

PPU = Prvi Partisan, also can be "nny", which is Serbian. Same thing as Wolf Gold.

Watch for small primer pockets, just to keep them seperated. No reason not to load small primer brass.

Why wouldn't you load them????!!??? It's 45 acp! Load them all until they split or get lost. Don't get all hung up about mixing headstamps in pistol brass. The difference is so slight you'll never notice unless you are a competition high level shooter.

The only 45 auto brass I toss without questioning is A-MERC which is American Ammunition. Junk, all of it, in 45 acp.

W-W = Winchester Western
yeah, I knew that, but the vendor seemed to imply it was somehow different that the stuff marked "WINCHESTER"

I never had any issues with it; primer pockets or otherwise... except I've lost about half of it as I'm not smart enough to take an old sheet with me if I go to an outdoor range...

That's one of the reasons I like shooting revolver more than semi-autos. I dislike trying to find and picking up brass.

The only brass which I toss into the scrap heap is AMERC. I use all the pother brands you mentioned plus R-P and Federal.

I reload them all but I've had the decapping pin pulled out of the rod collet with RCBS dies on TZZ brass as the primer hole is so small it grabs the pin tightly. Just have to pull fthe pin out with a pair of needle nose pliers and put it back in.

If I find a lot of TZZ brass I'll deprime it with a one piece decapping rod in the Lee Universal depriming die or an old decapping rod I have from an early Lee loader. Its the occasional one that sneeks in from the range that gives me problems if I don't catch them before they'r deprimed.

i load large and small primer brass--just a matter of swapping out the primer seater on my hornady lnl. for the small primer--federals and blazer--i use some left over small rifle mag primers as 45 is a low pressure load. i shoot 1911's and a thompson semi auto m1--no problems or issues. where i shoot, i generally end up with more brass than i started with as most of my range mates don't chase their brass and allow me to scrounge. my "cost" is powder, primer and the time it takes to reload bullets from reclaimed lead that i cast. :D --maybe .03cents each loaded round?:evil:
