Reloading 223 help

So i have all the equipment to start reloading 223. I have been reading about sizing and swagging the 5.56 primer pocket. Can someone help me with the trimming and the removal of the pocket and the crimp/non crimp?

I am experienced with reloading 45 and 40's.

The rounds i am reloading are not boat tailed and they have grooves over the middle.

The brass is all 5.56.

I have trimmer and a rcbs primer pocket swagger.

Please help

What does the loading manual you have say the case should be? Most size and trim to 1.750 inches.
Do you have a .223 case gauge? Load no longer that 2.260 if you will be shooting from an ar 15.
Can you give more info? Bullet weight, powder, gun, and primer brand?

I would refer to youtube videos for the RCBS tool, I ream, so I don't know 'bout no swage.

The groove in the middle is a cannelure(sounds like can L your), you might or might not crimp there, if you crimp(Gas gun/ARs, maybe, bolt gun shooters don't crimp usually.).

You'll need to lube those cases before resizing, then you'll need to check the length, any over 1.760 will need trimmed to 1.750-1.755. Then they will need to have the trimming burs removed from the inner and outer mouth rim. A debur/chamfer tool from RCBS or Wilson are the kind I like if I was to choose hand tools.

You can also use the lee chamfer tool remove the military crimp. If done right.

Run the brass through the RCBS pocket swager then give the pocket a nice chamfer with your trim tool. I just seat the bullet and dont worry about crimping (I use a Redding Competition Seater). I haven't had any issues with my AR yet from not crimping. I don't think there is enough recoil in a 5.56 AR to worry about it.

The crimp helps if you drop a mag on concrete, ask me how I know, bullit set back can blow primers.
