Reloading 300wsm

I have read on other searches of the web and seen where others use H4831sc but I can’t find it in a reloading book anywhere

Use a GOOD bullet for deer hunting.

Good advice. Most 150's won't stay together and give good penetration at magnum speeds at close range. The bullets need to slow down a little to perform best. This is where a premium bullet that will stay together at fast speeds is needed. OR... just load a heavier bullet to slow down MV.

I had a 300 WSM for a while and I liked a lot about it. But I only loaded 180 and 200 gr bullets for mine. H4350 worked best with those bullet weights. RL17 was supposed to give a little more speed and a lot of guys use it, but I ran into overpressure loads well below what was supposed to be max and less than satisfactory accuracy. I just stayed with H4350. But I'm sure other powders with similar burn rates would work too.

If your launching them a light speed that's definitely a copper solids wheelhouse... a ttsx might be gooder.

You can use 4831 data and just reduce to start like any other load. The "sc" stands for "short cut" which means the kernels are chopped smaller for better metering. It's a Hogdon powder, so it should be on thier website.
Here's Hornady 11th data for 4831.

H4350,RL17,RL16, or RL22
Federal #215 primers.

Swift A-frame or Nosler Partition.
For varmint hunting, most any will work.
You can add IMR-4350 to this, and be sure to use a premium bullet unless you like burger. I loaded 150 Accubonds ahead of 66gr of IMR-4350 and it made a mess of a big doe. I went back to my 165gr.

I have no idea how experienced you are but there are many methods to addressing loads. 1. Interpolate data. 2. Gordon's reloading tool. 3.quickload.
This is an art and science by which we craft the most perfect hand loads were capable while being safe as possible. If chevron gas won't get you there go to a BP station.

You are correct, I shared that as I was going to bed last night and didn't catch it. However, Imr4831 is a faster burning powder than H4831. Assuming you have a chrono, if you use starting load for IMR and work up using H4831, you should be able to find an accurate load well before you get near max. As already mentioned H4831 and H4831sc are the same powder, just cut different. If you can find H4831 data you can use that.
