Just bought my wife her first pistol... a Taurus Millenium 32 acp

I currently reload for my 45 colt. Do you think it will be worth reloading the 32 acp? I have a local ammo source but I don't know the price yet as I can't remember at this point.

What are some of your favorite recipes?

I currently have a couple pounds of Unique that I am trying to use up, how does it shoot in the 32 acp?

Couldn't find many threads on 32 acp reloads using the search function

I'VE loaded 32ACP/7.65MM cartridges for over two decades now. It is as easy to load as any other autoloading pistol cartridge. There are jacketed bullets in the marketplace as well as cast bullets. The latter shoot as well in my pistols as do the jacketed bullets. ALL of the faster pistol propellents ie: Bullseye, 231, HP38, REdot, 452AA, WST ETC ETC have worked better in my pistols than Unique which is a tad on the slow side and measures like rocks in really small charges. MY Beretta 7.65MM target pistol will shoot groups under an inch all day long with several propellents and bullets. SO will my Walther PP32 but it is really---REALLY !!!---picky about it's diet and shoots the SPEER 32 TMJ BULLETS INTO 2' GROUPS at 25 yards !!! L OL !! On the other hand it is a tackdriver with the other 71GR fmj bullets in the marketplace . Your mileage is gonna vary and you must develope your own loads.
And so it goes...

AAAHHH....forgot to mention this; the BEST dies I've ever used to load 32ACP ammunition have been RCBS steel dies, NOT-NOT-NOT their carbide loading dies, the only time in 50 years I can say that about loading dies, and I load for 135 calibers including ALL the common pistol calibers going back to 1873[ think about it..]

I cast and reload for .32 ACP. I use the Lee 3 pc. carbide die set with whatever crimp that provides. Not sure offhand what my recipe is as it with my reloading stuff but most any manual will give you correct info.

I welded an extender on the barrel for for more barrel length more velocity.
I welded up the feed ramp for more pressure for more velocity.
I used a 110 gr bullet for more power.
I throated the chamber so I could seat longer.
I seated the first round so long it would not fit in the magazine just the chamber, so I could fit more powder in the case for more velocity.

Factory ammo would go through 1" of Douglas Fir lumber.
I got handloads to go through 5" of Fir, but the recoil ripped out the ejector, which is also the slide stop on the Kel-Tec P32.

which cast bullet are you guys using?

If I went FMJ I would use Magtech 71 gr FMJ...

I reload for my walther PPK. I also use unique because I have load data for almost every pistol caliber I own. The last bullets I bought were 71 gr FMJ from Midway. I don't have any data with me right now but they aren't that difficult to reload and I usually buy the cheapest loaded ammo I can find (UMC) to reuse the brass.

what Will said.....and i use a 4-hole Lee ( thin red base) i make 180ish per hour and the only downside to 32 is the cases are tiny to hold after while. my cost is ~$11/100.
i think that is very worth it for lead. 14 cents for plated and you can push the V to what your gun can handle or stop at SD values.

Clark--your out there where the ozone is thin....:what:

I cast a Lyman #311252 Rd. Nose 75 grain bullet, sized to .310. Cost $ .00, as most all of my cast bullets.

Lubes with my own lube consisting of Bee's wax, Parafine, Auto wax "Carnuba", and Alox. Works for me, and NO LEADING.

I like AA #2 for .32 ACP because it meters so consistently, even at those tiny charge weights. Bullseye is another good one that meters very well. W231 is another good choice which meters well, just not quite as good as the other two. Well enough though. W231 and 60 Gr XTP's will shoot one hole groups in my Beretta 81.

I am shooting the Berrys plated 71 Gr RN, and the Magtech, and Hornady 71 Gr FMJ's, but have considered trying some cast bullets in it.

The proper crimp is a light taper crimp.

I sure like shooting the .32 ACP. Lots of relatively cheap, low recoil fun.

how do I measure to see which bullet diameter my Taurus Millennium will like the best? Its a first generation gun

For checking barrel groove size for cast bullets, use a soft lead sinker to slug the barrel, but chances are the cast bullets marketed by the various makers will work just fine as cast.
