Reloading 38/357 shotshells

Here's a video I made while cooking up some 357 shot capsules. Easy to put together if you have done any reloading just be carefull seating the capsule.

Very good video, thank you for posting it on YT. Gonna be loading some myself in the very near future, have 25 capsules (just the capsules) prepped so far. Bought about 350 of them last year, should be a couple lifetimes' supply unless I move to the dry side of the Cascades...

Why use an 'extra step' Lee dipper to fill them??

All I ever do is use the blue shot-cup as the dipper and fill it.
And shake out enough shot so the base wad will seat all the way.

I could care less what they weight, as long as they are all full of shot.
And the base wad is fully seated.

I didn't have a lot of shot left but great idea using the capsule as a dipper.

How much do the shot capsules run? My Wife just killed a snake out front a couple days ago. And the shotgun was a little too much, so I would like to make her some of those snake loads for her to sue instead.

I have a partial box Gamestalker, get me your address and I'll send you some. Now that I moved out of the dirty hot desert, I don't need them. I used to use #7.5 or #8, patterned well for me in an SP101 and killed snakes dead. Good stuff.

I've been making those for a few years now but I'm using #9 shot. They work VERY well on snakes and rats.

A box of 10 loaded .38 Special shotshells will run you right around $12/$15.
A box of 50 caplets cost only $8.

Hint, if you don't want to buy and have shipped a 25lb bag of shot do what I did, take a box of 12ga shells apart and you get about 28oz of #9 shot. That's enough for well over 100 .38 Special shotshells.

Don't forget to try (3) #1 buck shot pellets. They fit the 38/357 shotshell well and pattern about the size of a quarter at 7-8 feet for me. Good medicine for venomous critters. I bought a 5 ct. box of buckshot and pull them apart for the internals. I call them "blue balls".

When I was a little younger we used to do some aerial shooting with pistols. I sure upped my "kill" rate on beer bottles with shot capsules. My buddies still don't know!

Agree with RC, been using those for 30 years. They are good to about 6-8 FEET

I use these through my revolvers, but found they patterned terribly in my Marlin rifle. Hope you have better luck than I did. I believe it was because of having to traverse too much rifling.

Yeah I think that's what I'm going to find with the rifle too much rifling to be effective.
