Is anyone reloading 9mm for their P-Series Ruger and if so, what powder are you using? I've been loading both 125gr LRN and 147gr JHP with Unique and have been less than impressed. All of my loads so far have seemed weak and smoky, even at max loads.

I'm using Red Dot or W231 in my 9mm (125gr LRN). Mostly Red Dot now. Plenty hot but you have to be careful of the pressure when geting close to max loads with Red Dot. Red Dot seems well suited to the small 9mm case and my loads burn pretty clean.

Swap powder to decrease the smoke from cast bullets....it is lube causing smoke. Universal Clays or N320 will be good to get you decreased smoke!

With the 147g JHP Gold Dot Speer bullet I use 4.0g of Bullseye and it works very good. The OAL is 1.140 and the primer is CCI SP. Hope this helps.

Im using AA#5 in my 9MM. Probably not the most economical, but it shoots well and Im able to duplicate NATO spec velocities with it.

Just out of curiosity, what type of accuracy are you getting out of the bullet weights you mentioned.

I have a KP95 that hated 125 gr. lead round nose with whatever powder I used. It threw buckshot patterns at 50 feet. I never tried the 147s, figured they wouldn't fair any better.

Unique is a grungy powder, but it shoots fine when I load it behind any 115 gr. FMJ or copper cladded slug in my pistol. I just live with the little extra mess.

Hodgon Clays, Solo 1000, Very Old Dupont 700x, New 800x

All preform well in 9, 38, burn clean.

dsv424 is using nearly the exact load I am. I get 2.25" groups at 25 yards offhand with a KP85 Ruger. The Hornady XTP bullet is awesome too. Shoots to almost the same POA for me, is easier to find, and usually slightly cheaper locally than the Gold Dots.
