"For example, the 105 Berger Hybrids are very forgiving - I run them from 5thou off to 140 thou off of the lands in my match rifles."

What cartridge/caliber, rifle?

I shoot the 105 from 3 different 6 Creedmoors, a 6 Dasher, and a 243 LBC (6 Grendel). Defiance Deviant with Bartlein barrel. Savage Striker pistol with Proof Research barrel. Seekins Havak with Bartlein barrel. Custom LFAR with Proof Research barrel. And custom AR-15 with Black Hole Weaponry barrel. 3 different types of rifling, 4 different chamber reamers in 3 different cartridges. 3 different twist rates. Nothing finicky at all about how far it has to jump in any of these.

After a brief look at the Berger 105 Hybrid, it appears to have a slender nose and base would be far forward @ jam. Apparently, your happy with results far short of jam.

I did a brief research of the equipment you listed, and I'm going to do more. Trying to figure out if my Tikka T3X CTR 6.5 CM 24" heavy barrel in KRG stock is an adequate platform for my goals. Seems to shoot average 1.2", 5-round groups @ 100 yds so far using Hornady ELDM 140 ammo. The excellent trigger and NightForce 7-35-56 scope are such that I'm pretty sure these large groups are not me. I don't think I will ever invest as much as you have, but I would like to have at least one rifle that can really shoot well. Being in the SoCal area, I have to travel over 100 miles to get to my favorite shooting spot on a dry lake. I will do some ladder work ups with the Tikka and improve my skills. I'm not married to the Tikka, and would consider another platform or scratch build. And will be looking for advice. Another rifle I have is SIG SSG 3000 Patrol (.308W) which I like a lot- other than the stock. Maybe a GRS.

I have ordered 100 140 gn SMKs from Midwest.

I really appreciate all the advice, Kip......

Lemons do happen, but a Tikka T3x CTR should easily shoot smaller than 1” at 100yrds. I’ve done load development for only a handful of Tikkas, but they’ve all shot very small - a lot smaller than 1.2” at 100 - and frankly, it’s pretty rare that any factory bolt rifle really doesn’t want to shoot 1moa or smaller if we feed them right.

Your rifle simply may not care for the 140 ELD factory load.
