reloading for lead vs. fmj ammo

Yes they are loaded differently. Load data for lead will be lower than jacketed.

There is a significant difference in the process. One must know their barrl diameter, as in slug it, and have lead data. Don't just jump in and load lead in the same manner as jacketed, or same use the powder data of jacketed.
No 918V, there is a post from someone who knows nothing about cast bullets.

Uh, what?

Maybe I should just go back to reading Elmer Keith, Brian Pearce and John Taffin and leave this convoluted nonsense to the internet "experts".

By the way, Hodgdon lists a 115gr cast roundnose at an OAL of 1.10" with a max charge of 4.8gr of 231.

Like I said in the first post, before the silly arguing, no difference. Just cheaper bullets.

918v, folks like yourself are a lot of the reason why so many jacketed shooters are afraid of cast bullets. Most shooters are fine with .356" commercial cast bullets they can buy at the local emporium or order from Midway or Graf's. No reason to go scaring folks with talk of slugging bores and oversized bullets. One more time.

Ugghhhh Craig I know you want to be like Elmer and everything but dude take a look at a reloading manual once and a while. Lead bullet loading data is generally less than their same weight and shape jacketed counterparts.

GS

Correct.

Hopefully the OP will load some up, try them out, and get back with us in a new thread.
