What does the 220 like? 200 grain Swc, 230 hardball?

A friend of mine has two 220's. He has been loading 231 with 200 swc. They both shoot great with no function problems.

My P220 will digest H&G #68 style 200gr no problem and is very accurate with them. Likes 230 LRN and hardball too.

Did you ask it?:)

The P220 will feed anything. I have run Ball, FMJ. Lead, HP, SWC ,anything and everything. Never a malfunction. 185, 200, 230 gr bullets.

JMHO but the best out of the box non 1911 45 ACP.

Thanks you. I'll load some 230 and 200 swc with 231 and be. I hardly wait to get her out of jail...used but she looks good ;) Anyone recoomend doing the srt ?

I have Two P220's an older one (stamped slide) and a newer one that came with the SRT. I liked it so much I bought the parts and installed them on my other Sigs.

Not hard to do after the first one;)

I did not buy them here but at least you can get them. Used to be a Sig Armour installed only part I believe.

I like Top Gun

My 220 doesn't care much about what I feed it. It consumes anything and is a better shot that I am.

My first P220 would NOT run on SWCs. I haven't asked the second to try for fear of losing confidence in it. All RN, TC, and HP are fine in either.

My German made 220 prints 1" groups with Zeros 185gr. JHP and runs without a hiccup. Never had much success with lead.

I've run some Hornady 230 gr. FMJ and 230 gr. HAP through mine, along with some factory ammo. Nothing lighter than that yet, although I do have a bunch of 185 gr. XTP at the bench I may try.

I experimented with a box of a thousand cast lead RN-FP 185 gr that was most likely intended for 45 colt or something. It worked just fine in the P220. I wound up not loading more than a hundred and selling off the other 900 bullets because I really found no benefit over loading the 230s.

I had one of the very first 220's in 45. It was an unreliable feeder with any hollowpoint . It would feed Hornady swc's but the gun was a total lemon. Took several trips to SIG and never was right. I wanted to use it for a duty gun but had no confidence. Traded it off. Every newer gun I've seen have been great! I have some 1911's and while they shoot fine my friends two
sigs shoot every bit as well. I definitely would shoot some H&G 68 swc's if I owned one.

I've feed mine a steady diet of 200 Grain LSWC from Missouri Bullets and it shoots great.

The P220 seems to like just about anything I load and shoot. My favorite is Montana Gold's 185 gr JHP loaded, as with most of my pistol reloads, over either Unique or Universal powders.

Thanks for the info on the SRT kit for the 220. I need to do that upgrade ASAP. Have the 229 40S&W custom shop SRT -- a great trigger and a formidable hand gun
