I have Two P220's an older one (stamped slide) and a newer one that came with the SRT. I liked it so much I bought the parts and installed them on my other Sigs.
Not hard to do after the first one
I did not buy them here but at least you can get them. Used to be a Sig Armour installed only part I believe.
I've run some Hornady 230 gr. FMJ and 230 gr. HAP through mine, along with some factory ammo. Nothing lighter than that yet, although I do have a bunch of 185 gr. XTP at the bench I may try.
I experimented with a box of a thousand cast lead RN-FP 185 gr that was most likely intended for 45 colt or something. It worked just fine in the P220. I wound up not loading more than a hundred and selling off the other 900 bullets because I really found no benefit over loading the 230s.
I had one of the very first 220's in 45. It was an unreliable feeder with any hollowpoint . It would feed Hornady swc's but the gun was a total lemon. Took several trips to SIG and never was right. I wanted to use it for a duty gun but had no confidence. Traded it off. Every newer gun I've seen have been great! I have some 1911's and while they shoot fine my friends two
sigs shoot every bit as well. I definitely would shoot some H&G 68 swc's if I owned one.
The P220 seems to like just about anything I load and shoot. My favorite is Montana Gold's 185 gr JHP loaded, as with most of my pistol reloads, over either Unique or Universal powders.
Thanks for the info on the SRT kit for the 220. I need to do that upgrade ASAP. Have the 229 40S&W custom shop SRT -- a great trigger and a formidable hand gun
