I'm fixing to buy my first reloading kit. I've done some research but i'm still stuck. I'm really interested in the hornady progressive kits. I don't want to purchase a kit then have to upgrade several components b/c the things in the kit were no good quality. Any advice? My main two cailbers i'm going to reload is a 22-250 and 44mag.

How much do you plan on shooting? You may be better off financially with a single stage press.

If price is in the mix you might want to split the difference and go with a turret press. A good turret press will fall between a progressive and single stage press and do a good job with both rifle and handgun rounds.
With most of the kits I've seen for sale you do usually want to upgrade a few of the items depending upon which company's product you buy. Even with that buying a kit will usually save you some money, sometimes a lot of money.
Kempf is a good source for online reloading equipment. Midsouth Shooters is also a good online store for equipment and for reloading components.

2 presses ........ I reload Rifle for accuracy and the 22-250 can be a high precision shoot'in iron and a RCBS Rock Chucker Kit would be a fine starting point using competition dies for rifle and a Good set carbide dies for pistol has work well for thirty years.....
If you turn into a high Volume pistol shooter I have used a well maintained/tweaked Dillion 550B for something like 25 years....... with practice and technique you can do over 600 rounds a hour.......
Thats just me..... I am one of them labor of love ammo crafter..... trim the case, turn the necks, uniform the primer pockets, weight the case and tumble them 3 times.......weight every charge.......and shoot dimes at 200 yards.....
a nice single stage kit is a good starting point but learn to use the better dies.......and develop a good technique and go from there....and add on as it become a passion/obsession

I have the lee turret press and love it. Best deal on the market and you can usually find it on sale from one the online retailers like Midway. MSRP is $145 for the kit with everything but the dies and components.
