Just A quik question. I know u cant reload "spent" Berdan primer cases but what if you just pull the bullet and powder out reload it with your own bullet or even powder?

There seems to be alot of milsurplus ammo out there with steal core bullets and alot of ranges are banning the use of steal core bullets and they are kind of Dangerous to shoot. I was shooting into a dirt hill at 75yrds and one bullet came skipping across the ground back at me:uhoh:

People do it all the time. Use appropriate bullets and powder charges and you'll be fine.

It's called Mexican Match, generally it pertains more towards just pulling the FMJ bullet and replacing it with a equivalent weight SP or match grade bullet.

I have a bunch of brass case 54r ammo that I converted to hunting ammo by pulling the FMJ and replacing it with a 150 gr. .311 Speer SP. I resized the case necks and reused the factory powder.

On the factory powder I dropped the original powder charge 10% and worked the load back up for accuracy then loaded all the remaining cartridges the same with the test ammo results I liked. I found a load of about 1 gr. off the factory charge produced much better accuracy and felt recoil.

I've done this to a great extent with 7.62x54r only I tossed the Berdan primed cases because the primers are corrosive. I re-weighed the powder and put it and the original bullets into Boxer primed cases.
