Hey Guys!

Dumb Newbie question time!!! I am trying to help a buddy out.... his father gave him a nice M1901 Mannlicher in about 80% condition, (except for what is likely a ground off Argentine crest!). I have been on a quest for him for ammo for sometime... with little luck! (He does have several original rounds that came with it... but the primers are all dead)

I did locate (With C&R forum help) Buffalo Arms Co. and back ordered brass... Well Low and behold.... after several months they came threw with 50 bright and shiny pieces of 7.65 Mann. brass.

If you are not familiar with this round... and I guess there are not many this side of the sod that are.... it looks like a long skinny 9x18. But is really more like a long .32 ACP (0.820 vs. 0.670).

Here is my issue... I am a novas reloader mostly .45, .40S&W, and 38-40, on a Dillon 550 press.... I would like to help my buddy out... but money is an issue... and he will only likely shoot a few rounds and hang it on a wall.... (Yes I told him that it would be better not to shoot it in the event of breakage... but he is firm... and I admit I want to take a couple rounds too! He,He!)

Since you gents know a heck of a lot more then I about rolling your own ammo... Can I get away with .32 ACP dies for this round... or would I be better off trying to find some .32 S&W dies... what about taper crimp Vs. Roll crimp... an issue???

Also what loads would you recommend? There is no help from my Lymans Manual for this round! (And I am thinking a light load due to the pistols age!!!)

Any other thoughts or ideas???
Thanks!!!
Fred

P.S. here is a link to some info. on this interesting pistol!

I use 32 ACP dies to reload 7.65 MAS. Cartridges of the World show that the Mannlicher is about .005" smaller though. You might want to check and see if a 32 ACP will drop in the chamber. If so the dies will probably work. They also list 3.2 grains of Unique behind an 86 grain bullet.
