I want to try 244 with 38-40 / 44-40 but have no load data or can fine any. Hoping someone can help...

I think if you search long enough, maybe Winchester’s website, you’ll see it’s the same as 231.

My understanding is it’s an improved 231 with less flash, or a copper inhibitor. Hard to keep up with these new powders.

somebody correct me if I’m wrong.

It is not the same as W231. W244 is actually a little bit slower than W231. The data between the 2 is close but not the same. I use W244 in 9mm and .40 S&W.

Loaded 44-40 200gn today with 6.4gr w244 prolly shoot it next week...

shot today 4/21/21
1. 753 fps
2. 758
3. 758
4. 795
5. 795

1. 774
2. 786
3. 803
4. 819
5. 801

Quite true. Similar but NOT the same. HP-38 and W231 ARE the same.

I actually prefer W244 to W231, just because it's 'slowernessness' compared to W231 works better for me and what I load. I use it in 9mm and 200grn .45ACP loads.

Did you find data for it somewhere...?
