Is it appropriate to offer guests small Mason jars of reloaded ammo as party favors, along with the recipe printed on the outside?

Anything could be considered appropriate depending upon the attitude of the people that attend the party but for me I wouldn't accept your reloaded ammo, it's just one of my things, I only trust my own loads.

Well, u got a bullet puller don't you? Free brass, free bullet, free powder... i'd take it

Generally, i do not have others shoot my reloads either. I was hesitant to start reloading for my wife even. She shoots factory ammo until I have worked the load enough myself to pass it off to her.

I'd take it, but break it down into parts and re-reload :)

I would graciously accept the gift and thank the host. But I would take them home and put them on a shelf in my shop. I only shoot my reloads and factory ammo...

Provided your party guest wouldn't be offended at the offer of ammunition, I don't see why it wouldn't be appropriate.

And if the people receiving the reloads know you, know how well you know your craft and trust you, they might even use them rather than break them down like BigMacMI suggested.

My concern would be that someone I gave reloads to would misuse one in some boneheaded way and get them or someone else injured and I'd end up getting sued. I carry huge personal and professional liability insurance policies to protect myself against such lawsuits, but the thing about that is even if the lawsuit is frivilous and you win during preliminary motions, you still had to endure everything that led up to the trial.

I wouldn't do it as I don't want the liability.

Like others said I'd accept them but break them down as I like to know what I'm shooting.

If you know the attendees are shooters why not get things they could use instead. Wipe patches, Small Rem oil, swabs or other things that we use all the time

Had a friend run off a dozen or so rounds of 40 S&W and give to me. I took them out of courtesy, but I don't know where they are in the garage. I only shoot mine. I like my Hi-Power and if I blow it up it is going to be my own fault.

There's only two people in the world whose reloads I trust; My Dad, and I. And I'm not 100% sure of his reloads, I got a lot of FTF's from his 185 gr LSWC.;)

OP, I'd be delighted to attend one of your parties! If that is the welcoming gift, those must be some parties. Now if I'd actually shoot those reloads is a different question.

It's the same dilemma we all face during the holidays when folks drop off food gifts- there's some things that you can't <deleted>, some that won't hurt even if they are <deleted> up and those things that could either make you real sick or kill you in extreme cases, the latter falls into the same category for me as someone else's reloads.

In God I trust. Everyone else is questionable, including me.

Have I ever loaded a case without powder? Yup. :(:p

Have I accidentally grabbed the wrong weight bullet (124 gr instead of 115 gr)? Yup. They sure do look alike.

Have I unintentionally used the wrong load data and almost needed to change my underwear at the range? Yup but that was very long long long time ago.:oops:

Have I seen seasoned match shooters blow up their guns at the range? Yup. Many times and they all swore they were careful to not double charge ... Sure sure, I am certain it was extreme bullet setback that compressed the powder charge that split the barrel chambers.;)

We are not perfect. We make reloading mistakes because we are not perfect.

No, I would not offer my reloads as party favors. I do let friends/family/neighbors/coworkers shoot my reloads in my firearms but with full disclosure and waivers.

Even factory ammo has gotten screwed up on occasion, but at least if they do, they are the ones getting sued, not me or you. My friend bought some reloads at a gun show once, and on inspection (after firing and while I was teaching him to reload) I noted a case that had several holes in it that he had fired - in 45/70. Enough to swear me off of anyones reloads but my own. I would not even reload his while he was standing there, I made him do it and I supervised.

Now I like the idea of cleaning gear, patches, swabs, oil, bore cleaner, etc as a party favor if the guests are into shooting sports.

Nice gesture but how about a mason jar with some brass and bullets; for those that you know reload. If you can't think of any of your guests that do, then find something else.

I'd accept them, and then recover the components for my own use. I will not shoot other people's reloads.

Now there is a very good idea. Put together a small cleaning kit that can be carried to the range in their range bag. I know many shooters who do not carry any cleaning equipment to the range.

{{ time to start looking for sales to put together cleaning kits for stocking stuffers lol }}

I will echo many here. I wouldn't.
I would love a gift of ammo, just not handloads. I'm pretty picky about that. I'm not as picky as some, but the number of people who I trust to shoot their handloads can be counted on one hand.

If you want to give ammo as a gift, that is very cool. But spend a little extra and buy factory ammo, and give that.

Touching gesture, but I echo the sentiments about shooting others reloads. I would say best thing to do is as suggested above, or gift certificates to a local range/gun shop/etc. Or, do the RSVP thing and on it ask, "What is your favorite caliber to reload?" Then tailor it to each guest with 50 bullets of that flavor. ;)

What I would like is a jar with brass, bullets and primers . With a note telling me what powers you have, with an invitation to come load on your bench. When I come over...and I would, I would bring my own power if I didn't like yours. But the chance to load on a different machine, would expand my Knowledge, that is a win / win. But then I would return the invite.

And for someone that doesn't load, think of the joy of shooting a (bullet) that you made your self. They will get hooked and you could be a mentor and show Them how to make (rounds).

I shoot with 7 other guys and 6 of us reload. Rule 1. You don't shoot my reloads, and I don't shoot yours.

We have 2 guys that reload Hornady 2 that reload Dillon 1 reloads Rockchunker and 1 reloads Lee. I have reloaded on all of theirs and they have reloaded on mine. I can't speak for everyone but I enjoyed pulling the handle on their machine.
