Reloder 17 in 30-06

I was just given 2 lbs of Reloder 17. Has anyone ever loader with this in a 30-06 with SMK 168 gr bullets?

I've never tried it in 30-06, but it looks like you can get decent speeds with it. I have used it in 300 WSM. It is the fastest powder I've tried. I got decent accuracy, but not great.

Used it with 175 class bullets and it shot very well!

It was the only powder in stock back when I got 2 lbs of it, but I have been steadily burning through it. No complaints.

It can do some interesting stuff with heavy bullets and a longish barrel in 308 as well.

Funny, but I got some when I couldn't find IMR4350 because it is supposed to have the same burn characteristics and I wanted to duplicate some loads for my old bolt gun. I loaded some 30-06 and some 308 which it which both shot fine. I can't declare its accurracy potential in open sight guns and aging eyes, but I didn't experence anything notable, and esily kept them on the paper at 100 yards. Then I read on the internet that RE17 was too slow to work properly in an M1 Garand or an M14, and could damage the guns, which is what I was shooting them in. I've since bought the Adjustable gas plug for the Garand, and am still shooting them in the M14. I've also done some preliminary testing with 8mm mauser and RE17, and it looks promising. Even shot some in 6.5 Jap. in 30.06 I think you'll like it a lt, especially with bullets 150gr on up.
