Rem 1100 interceptor?

I have a 1960s Remington 1100 in 20 gauge. I load 2 shells into the magazine and 1 into the chamber. I can shoot 2 shots off great but the 3rd shell stays in the magazine and does not load into the chamber. The shell is slightly depressed into the magazine and I have to push it into the magazine until it clicks. Then, I can get that shell into the chamber by pulling back the charging handle. Im guessing I have a bad interceptor latch. Is this correct? Ive been looking around and cant find much on this. Help me out, please.

I cannot help you, but do want to say “welcome to the forum”. Smart people will be along shortly to answer your question…

1. Remove mag spring cap (carefully), remove spring and follower, and clean.
2. Reassemble and fire 3 rounds. If that doesn't fix it,
What do you mean by "The shell is slightly depressed into the magazine and I have to push it into the magazine until it clicks."?
If it is what I think you mean, you either need to replace the interceptor, it's spring, and it's retaining ring, or if that doesn't work, the action arms. (Because the camming surface on the action bar would have been damaged, which is pretty rare.)

Thanks to all for the input. After further inspection, it looks like the interceptor spring is broken. Ill start working on fixing it. This is an old gun that I used as a kid 40 + years ago and had been sitting at my dad's house for all these years. Want to get it back in working order. Thanks again.

Glad to hear you found the issue, I hope you can find the spring and a new snap ring (they are known to bend or break upon removal) to fix your 1100. I'm rebuilding a stripped 11-87 receiver and the small parts I didn't have are either really $$$$ or just not available. EBay and GB parts searches are the best source I've found. No one has any old Remington stock retail.
