I am in the process of building my first custom 700 on a budget. I'm looking for a basic 700 to start with and I've come up with a few choices and all happen to have blind magazines. My question is how hard is it to put a stock made for a BDL on this action. Will I need to spend hundreds of dollars on trigger guards and other magazine/floorplate related parts?
Thanks in advance,

I take your question is how hard and how much to change from a 700 ADL to a 700 BDL rifle. The answer is for just under $200 you can do the conversion and buy the stock. I just did mine a few months ago.
Here is a Hogue Pilar bed ovemoulded stock for $55.98 for a factory second. http://www.hogueauction.com/item.php?id=fa88f9dd89b42d639c5e6c7237b6ccbf I have one and they are nice.

Next is the conversion kit which runs $135 at Brownells. http://www.brownells.com/aspx/ns/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=340&title=REMINGTON+700+ADL-TO-BDL+KITS

Here is how my project turned out.

It really depends on how much you want to spend on your build. Are you looking at a DIY project or sending it to someone and having them build it?

I've been thinking about doing the same thing in a 243. I have a Savage 243 that shoots good, but I dislike the Savage action. My intention was to buy a donor 700 action and adding a good barrel and stock to it. You can buy a Remington rifle at Walmart for under $400 or a used rifle if you can find one under $400. You could sell the stock and barrel on ebay and recoup some money. Or you could just buy a Remington action, but they cost almost as much as the rifle at walmart.

If you want to dump some serious cash into your rifle, you could pony up and get the AICS that comes with a 5rd detach mag at "only" $775 for the 1.5 stage.
