Correct me if I'm wrong but the 7mm mag, 30-06, 300 win mag are all "long action" calibers, and the .223, .243 & .308 are all "short action" calibers.

Do Remington 700 rifles come in two different action styles (short vs. long) to make the actions for smaller calibers shorter/stiffer, or when you get a .223 700, does it come with an action long enough to cycle a 30-06?

Thanks!

The 700 does indeed come with a long action for the rounds that you mentionedas being long, as well as a shorter one, again for the rounds that you mentioned as being short.

...and remington produces different action lengths. 223 goes in a short action 700, and 30-06 goes in a long action 700.
