Rem 700 not loading cartridges from magazine

Shmackey,

Are there deep longitudinal scratches in the cartridge case, when you get the rifle to work? (Wondering here about a burr or sharp edge on the feed rails.)

Has the rifle worked correctly in former times? (If it has, the problem is almost certainly related to the mag box, or the follower hanging up in there, or a weakened spring.)

If it has never worked right, this sounds like a job for Remington.

No scratches of note on the cases.

It will work correctly for 50 rounds at a time and then act up. I'm going to put together some dummy rounds and stare at everything in action on my bench in a couple of days.

It may be the right orientation, but at least check to see if the spring and/or follower are oriented correctly. I've seen some ADL rifles where either was backwards. The high side of the follower should be on the left as you look into the action.
