Was looking at a Rem 700 .223 heavy stainless fluted 26" bbl with gray webbing on black stock. claimed to be a Sendero.
Can't find a Sendero .223 in the blue book. SN# gives a mfg date of 2001.
Was a .223 made in a Sendero mdl or is a VSSF the same thing.
thanks

That would be a VSSF. Nomenclature is/was Sendero for the long actions, VSSF for the short actions. Good guns. I had one in .308 that I sold to purchase a custom .260 Rem. Had I known then what I know now, I'd have had it rebarreled.

That was a VSSF, a very nice high end 700. I had the luck to look at one in a LGS while looking for a rifle in .22-250. I didn't get this one because I already had a Savage .223 with heavy barrel.

Thinking back it was new with a price of about $1100.

I had a VSSF 22-250. Great gun. I sold it and years later, picked up a 5R in 308. Added Timney trigger, bottom metal to accept box mag, muzzle brake and Badger Knob. Vortex viper scope. 1000 yard gun w 175 GMM.

It's not a Sendero but Cabela's is selling Remington Model 700 ADL Varmint model rifles chambered in .223, .22-250, 6.5 mm Creedmore and .308 for $399.99. Pretty cheap price for a pretty nice varmint rifle, I think.

I have a Rem 700 .223 VSF (varmint synthetic fluted) 26" heavy fluted blued barrel with black webbing on a gray synthetic stock, Don't know what it is called, but they don't make it anymore. Gotta be a first cousin to the Sandero. I paid $700 on a close-out sale at Cabela's a few years ago. put a Shilen trigger in it and worked up some loads and can hit a dime at 100 yds every time. now have a deadly accurate prairie dog rifle. Have killed 100s of p-dogs with it. Probably my most reliable varmint rifle.

Got the VSSF and changing out the barrel to a bartlein with 7.7 twist for heavier bullets also dropped in a Trigger Tech trigger.

Reading a number of forums about this rifle and a lot of mention about older VSSF vs newer ones. what is considered older?.Mine was made in 2001. I believe it has the HS precision stock but don't know what model of stock ( blk with grey webbing)

I’m not sure of the specific years, but the more recent version is called the VSSF II. I believe there were a few years between the two when they were out of production.

Going back in time, the forerunner of current VSSF series were the M-700 Varmint wt models that came in BDL Grade, like this one in .223. The earliest of these, with the impressed "checkering" helped establish the 700's reputation for fine accuracy. DSC_0471.JPG DSC_0474.JPG

Looked it up. VSSF introduced in 1994. VSSF II introduced in 2005. So yours is one of the early ones.
