Fella's;

I just took a look at one of the major on-line gun sales sites. Prices for 788's ranged from $425.00 to 800.00! I gotta admit that I regard the lower end of that range as being real world.

I mean, I love mine, but there's reality & then there's la-la-land. I wouldn't be surprised to find a dealer where I could buy a new model 70 Winchester for $800.00.

Depending upon caliber and condition they start at 4 bills in my neck of the woods (Wash/Id border) Rifles chambered in .44 mag and 6mm are thru the roof in price.

Given my attachment to my 788, it would take a lot more than $800 to pry mine out of my hands. However, I might give it to the right person.

Last time I checked the LGS's, I think there was at least one if not two 6mm's on the used racks. I really do not recall the numbers on them, but I also don't think either of them was over $500.00. Of course for me they failed QC, bolts were put on the wrong side. Just call me "lefty".

I saw one in nice shape at the gun show in Panama City this weekend. $375 asking, .243 Win. I thought about it for a minute but don't need another one in .243. Now, .308 or .44 mag maybe...
