Rem. 788

I picked up a 788 in .223 back in the 70's. It shot fine then and it still does now. Even with a Tasco scope from the same period, it shoots better than 1 MOA. It sits in the safe and I've no intentions of parting with it. There is a new Burris FullField II sitting on the shelf....whenever I find the time.

I believe my first one was about eighty bucks, retail. Got my butt kicked many times in the old Cast Bullet postal matches by people shooting 788s. My pristine pre-64 Model 70 never shot as well as my 788 with either cast or jacketed bullets.
Wish I had a 30-30 788.
Don't think they were expensive to make, just not enough profit in those days when the prices you could ask were low also.
