I have a fairly new Rem 870 Express Super Magnum (with the key lock in the safety) and have been looking high and low for a left-handed safety for it. I talked to Remington, and they have them, but they only come in a complete trigger group, at almost half as much as the shotgun cost. I don't need to keep the safety lock if one is available for a pre-lock version.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Also, there's the Vang safety.

Just remember though, you may or may not need to replace the detent plunger. I haven't yet, but have been told by others that they did.

LH Liability Problem

There use to be some left hand safeties, but there is a liablity problem to consider. Think about it for minute.....you have a right hand shotgun with a safety that operates in the "wrong" direction. What happens if a right handed person picks up the shotgun thinking that the safety is on and pulls the trigger?

I realize that this is unlikely, but it could happen and because people today are willing to sue over almost anything I doubt that many firearms makers would be willing to risk it.

The problem does not exist with Mossberg or any other shotgun with a top mounted safety.

Replacing the trigger group with a LH unit would probably absolve Remington of any responsibility because the part was not modified or had an after-market part installed.
