Not bad! Have you weighed it? 100% weight retention? Was it a CoreLokt Ultra or just the plain CoreLokt?

If CoreLokts would shoot tighter groups in any of my .270s, I'd use them in my loads, but they don't... so I won't.:(

I've always had great luck with core lokt bullets. I think they are one of the best non premium bullets a guy can use.

I load for my .303 British and have tried the core lokt's. I've gotten very good accuracy even though their weight varied more than any other hunting bullet I've ever used. I've yet to recover any bullet from any caliber from a deer. I did, however, recover a couple of .308 silvertips and 7 .45acp bullets from a very big boar.

I've just never had good luck with them in my .243. They'd always come apart in my deer and make a mess. I started shooting Federals and have had better luck. However, that's all I think it is. Luck. Clearly the bullet above performed flawlessly.

The ole CoreLokt has been killin deer for a looong time..."The deadliest mushroom in the woods" they called it.

They do often come apart in smaller calibers (.257 and smaller)

The 165 in 7mm/280 is a heck of a good bullet for deer or elk.

I would be interested in the weight before and after. I recovered 2 factory 150 grain Federal bullets last year and my reloader brother weighed them for me. Weight retention was only about 65%. From your pic, comparing it with my bullets, I believe yours also lost a lot of weight. I could be wrong, let us know, thanks!

Thats all I ever use 99% of the time great bullet and inxpensive as well for my 30-06. I don't need to pay $40.00 a box for premium stuff.

What cal. and what bullet wt are you shooting.?
I have killed many deer with these, through the years, but last year me and my son shot some large hogs that we never found with new, bought in Sept. 08 Core-lokt bullets. They were 150 grain psp 30-06. We have killed plenty of hogs over the past several years. It was just strange we both lost animals using ammo from the same box. Hogs are tough, so you never know. Now we shoot for the head on hogs.

I've never recovered a rifle bullet from a deer. I've taken lots of white tail using Core-Lokts in .243, .308, and .30-06. All were complete pass throughs, and all but one were one-shot kills. That one was really a one-shot kill, too--the deer was down for good, but not dead yet, so we put another shot through his neck to make the end quick. No complaints regarding the bullets.

The cal was 30-06 and the bullet weight was 150 grn psp corloc from midway
and like said it was running around 2650 rpm,s. still dont have a weighed it yet been bussy prossesing deer but I will get a weight for yall.

I have used the 200gr core-lokt in my 35 Rem. for several years and all have been 1 shot stops for both hog and deer.

I just bought a 308 and now gonna try them in 150gr. Started with 40gr of 4064 and working up.

Nice looking mushroom there. I have seen a lot of people put em down on the internet for various reasons over the years but standard old core-lokts have always been pretty accurate and very deadly on deer for me. I killed a heap of them with an old Remington 7400 and a 150 grain core-lokt. Also killed deer with 140 gr core-lokts out of a 7mm-08. And 100 grain core-lokts out of a 243. Didn't recover too many over the years but the ones i did looked pretty similar to those photos. All you need for deer sized game if your rifle shoots them well IMHO.

Ive used coloks in my rem700 .243, 100grn to great effect. It was a great combo.:D Deadly and accurate.

Didnt find a killer cobo again untill I tryed Czeck LPS in my Sako M-39.
I miss that .243....

I have good luck with all the bullets I use - except for when i miss. But that's not really the bullets fault.

And I don't have much luck recovering any bullet, but then mine all blow out the other side - by design. I like big blood trails and easy tracks.

I shoot core lokts out of my 25-06 and I couldn't ask for any better performance. I have never had an animal I hit with a core lokt go more than 60 yards and I would say 90% dropped right there.

As with any mass produced item, quality varies a bit lot# to lot#. With the component bullets that come from Midway, I've seen as many as three different lot productions in one box of 100 (Some .30/30 150gr RN's). There were three decidely different looking "noses" on the bullets. Some were perfect, some were oddly shaped, and several had small "hollow points" where the core-punch left a small dimple in the point of the bullet.

All however were typically accurate and performed as expected.

Although not often "match grade accurate" as Sierra'a and Nosler B.T.'s ususally are, they are most always decently accurate.

I've had especially good luck with the Corlokt's intended for the .30/30 and .35Rem. For these two cartridges, there is simply nothing better. Including the new Hornady FTX's within 200yds.

I've never experienced core seperation from the Corelokts, but have heard of it. But, recovered game was very dead....!

I've got a quantity of 180gr CoreLokts that I bought in a quantity of 500. Theyv'e excceded the accuracy of Sierra MatchKings and GameKings in four different "hunting" grade .30's I've tried them in. Particularily a .300RemUltMag, where I've shot two deer deliberately at deep angles to see if they will seperate/fail. Neither of the two bullets were recovered and no jacket's, either. Deer were DRT, obviously.

But, THEY AIN'T CHEAP ANYMORE !!!! Cost is ususally within a dollar/100 of premium bullets such as the Sierra's and Hornady's.....

BTW: the 50.0gr load of IMR4064 w/150gr CorLokt is my Savage M110 LH's favorite load. But, it Chrono's at 2,950fps from MY rifle. This rifle won't take even 51.0gr w/o sticky extraction and cratered primers. It will shoot MOA with the mentioned load however. It has the tightest chamber and shortest throat on an '06 I've ever seen. The Remignton CorLokt seated and crimped to the cannulure is .035" off the grooves, and is where the gun "wants them". Who'd thought it ???
