An older friend of mine has a .45 ACP 1943 Remington Rand 1911A1 National Match Camp Perry pistol. All #'s matching in mint condition. He has fired less then 200 rounds through it over the last 50 odd years. He even has the original train manifest that shipped with it from Camp Perry, OH to the PA train station.

Can anyone provide some background information on the gun and the approximate value of it? Thanks.

The best info to be found online regarding the NM pistols is on Ty Moore's website, www.coolgunsite.com. He actually owns several as well. Value of a NM pistol is subject to debate as some collectors like them, while others dislike anything that isn't pure "GI Joe" from the factory. I think $1500 is a fair starting price for one, although I've seen them go for far more.

The biggest issue with NM pistols is proving their authenticity. Lots were made up by gunsmiths large and small during the "accurize your .45" craze of the 1960's-1970's, and proving it came straight from Springfield Armory or Rock Island Arsenal can be tricky. But is sounds like yours came with paperwork that can authenticate it, which is definitely a good thing.

Thank you sir. The owner is an elderly veteran who is in poor health and will probably need to sell the pistol. I was just trying to get an idea on the value of it so he didn't get ripped off. I appreciate the help.
