Remedy for AR-10 light hammer strike?

I installed a RRA 2 stage NM trigger in my AR-10 this week.
I took it out and experienced a number of light strikes on primers. The firing dip would dimple the primer, but not hard enough to ignite it. A second try would fire the ammo.
I was getting one of this failures every 5-6 rounds using Portugese surplus ammo. I didn't have any other with me to try.
My AR-10 is still relatively new with about 150 rounds or so through it. It was clean and well lubed.

I contacted a RRA technician this morning who told me the only thing to do was to use different ammo. That's fine except I have 4 cases of this Portugese stuff and no other .308's to use it in.

When installing this trigger, I noticed the hammer has less mass than the original hammer.
Does anyone make a stronger hammer spring? I'm tempted to swap the hammer spring out for the original hammer spring and see if that makes a difference since I didn't have any trouble with the original trigger/hammer combo.

Maybe I just need to shoot it more until it breaks in?

#1- Replace with your old trigger group and until you run out of ball ammo. Expect 6-8 MOA

#2- Buy case of match ammo and expect .5-1 MOA

Its your call, I would go for choice #2. The best rifle in the world won't help much if you insist on shooting ball in your 308. At least that's my personal experience.

Thanks, Sandbag, but accuracy isn't the issue. This Portugese stuff is shooting 1-1.5 MOA.

I'm concerned about reliability. I want to be able to shoot anything I stuff into it.

Since I am interested in a new AR-10 purchase at this time, I am most interested in how this works out for you. I like the 2 stage trigger group in my AR-15 (Armalite in a Colt) and have not had light strike issue with 556 ball. Your problem might be RRA and their product. Good Luck

I've got an Armalite NM trigger in my AR-10. No problems with light strikes using West German surplus, IMI, nor Radway Green.

Could indeed be the ammo.
I had a Jewell trigger installed in my Eagle Arms AR10. The only ammo I had problems with was indeed the Portugese surplus. Same issue, an occasional light strike. I had a couple rounds that exihibited the same problem in my Remington 700 P, but not at the same level as the AR10. All other surplus ammo I've tried in the AR10 has been 100% reliable.
Interestingly the light strikes were only with one 200 round pack of the Portugese surplus. Another 200 round pack I purchased at a later date functioned fine. Don't know if this helps or adds to the confusion.
I currently shoot my own reloads most of the time. Much better groups with no issues.

That's interesting. So far I've only used ammo from one case. I'll have to break open another and try some.

I normally load my own ammo but haven't had a chance to load much .308 yet since this is a relatively new rifle.
I figured the Port ammo would make a good stash and provide some good plinking until I got caught up on my reloading.

Funny thing is, I didn't have any trouble with this ammo until I swapped triggers. I'm going to put the original Armalite hammer spring back in (if it fits) and see if it makes a difference.
Were you getting any light strikes with the original hammer/trigger combo before you installed the Jewell?

Never shot the rifle with the original trigger. Bought it and dropped it off at the gunsmith on the way home for the Jewell installation and to have an aluminum free float tube installed.
