New sheathes are back and are left-handed!! I replaced the leather washers on three of these, my thoughts are they aren't rare and they were in really bad shape. Included before and after pictures. I used rubbing compound to clean the blades along with a healthy dose of elbow grease.

Some would be bothered and say you removed all the precious "patina" (unsightly tarnish) from your collectables and lowered their "value" (some people pay premium for gunky looking metal).

I call that a real restoration there are so many knives and firearms as well as other old/antique metal items out there that are screaming for a good cleaning repolishing and refinishing before being put to good use for their intended purpose again thus increasing their TRUE value.

Good work they now look the way they are supposed to.

Thanks my thoughts exactly they are now usable again, doing what they were meant to do.

Nice clean-up and restoration! Thanks for the update as I love the before and after photos.

wow, nice job, those look really good.

I find the left hand sheath's interesting. Did you make those or are they common items?

The three are just about like this one all readable. None of the sheaths were restorable about like the leather washers on the handles. The lefthand sheath was issued with this knife way back when. Knife on the left and 1911 on the right?

I have a Cattaraugus 225Q that was my father's, but no sheath. Any help finding a sheath would be great.
Thanks.

Read post #13.
If he made those, he already has a pattern!
Thank you.
It would fun to find a original. I have a empty sheath or two but not for this knife :(

Joneb PM me your address and I'll send you one , don't expect a much but you'll have a original you may be able to restore.
Edit: what I have would be good for a pattern not restorable. I have to have more around here someplace.
That said I think Mike gets $25 plus shipping a quality product for sure.
