I purchased a used 11-87 Premier last Friday. Seller was a retired gentleman who had not used it in quite a while. I have a couple 870's but had never owned a semi-auto. I cleaned it and took it out with my nephew to shoot some clay targets. I am very happy with the gun function wise. It is close to my Wingmaster in look and feel. However the recoil pad is old and stiff. Has anyone found a good recoil pad that fits a wood stock 1187? I see a lot of 870 and 1100 recoil pad models but reviews mention complications with various model 1187s. Should I just get the Remington wood stock model or is there a better option? Any suggestions for a recoil pad would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I’ve bought a number of pre-fit recoil pads over the years for rifles and shotguns. The only one that ever fit was for a 700 ADL. So I resigned my self to having a grind to fit pad installed by a gunsmith whenever I want to add or replace a recoil pad.

Slip on Pachmayer is probably going to add too much length. The 11-87 is popular enough that a straight remove old and replace new may exist. Otherwise, it's grind to fit - Pachmayr, Kick-eez, etc.
