I have a wood stocked 20ga 870 with a youth stock. Is the recoil pad the same size as any other wood stocked 870?

The youth model pad is different, since it has a shortened 20ga standard stock. There isn't a lot of options for a pre-fit pad for the youth model, your best bet would probably be a grind to fit pad.

I have only had a Model 1100 walnut youth stock, and the butt on that was the same as an LT20. The butt was "full" sized, the stock just tapered quicker. In looking at pictures of the newer youth stock with spacers, it looks like they went the same way with that one. Can't speak to all the Expesses. The only pre-fit recoil pad that I have ever seen fit properly on a wood stocked Remington was on a laminated Express stock. Everything else was going to be grind to fit to be right.

I've heard enough stories from people trying to get a pre-fit pad to fit a Remington to believe the stocks vary widely. :)

I know Remington changed the stock/pad size on the Express 12 ga. in the mid or late '90s. I owned a '93 model and couldn't find a pre-fit pad to fit. I called Remington and was told about the change.

I hand sanded a Decelerator and threw the rock-hard fake pad in the trash. It's a great shotgun now.
