I have either a Remington 11 or Savage 720 (not exactly sure which but I am willing to bet it a the Remington) and I was wondering if it had a blued finish orginally? Right now there is pretty much nothing on the barrel or reciever and I was thinking of trying to reblue it, maybe using the Blue Wonder product. I would then put a new stock on it from Boyds.

Would this be the right way to go? Or was the gun never blued to begin with?

Model 11s were blued. Compare the marks on the barrel to the proof marks found on 870s, 1100s etc. They should match up if it's an 11.

Consult with a decent smith about redoing this first....

The gun was only $100 so I am not too worried but I definitely don't want to ruin the thing.

I am fairly positive it is a model 11 because my uncle has a model 11 and the two guns look identical except for serial number. The safety is in the trigger guard right in front of the trigger. push forward to fire, back for safe.

It says remington on the barrel. It doesn't say anything on the receiver.

Sounds like a great project shotgun,Wedge. Besides home or pro rebluing, an option might be the baked on finish like Denny Hansen and other have mentioned.

Do have the chamber checked by a competent smith, some of the oldest were 2 9/16".
