I have a WWII vintage Savage Model 720 that I recently got back from having reblued at the smith. The blue job is fantastic, but I am having problems loading the shotgun.
Basically, the carrier is stuck all the way down, and I can't load a round without pressing the bolt release button on the right side of the receiver.
The 720 is a copy of the Browning auto 5, but with less features, like no magazine cutoff. I don't think I should have to press the bolt release to load the magazine tube, but I'm not sure... I can't find any info online specific to the M720. Once loaded, it does cycle fine manually with snap caps.
Any advice as to what is causing my problem, or if it is even a problem?
