How many parts on the Rem 1100 and 11-87 are interchangeable? I just picked up a stripped 11-87 receiver and have a near complete supply of small parts but I'm looking for a barrel, stock, and handguard. Will any 12ga 1100 stock/handguard work on an 11-87? Was the 1100 a thinner receiver or barrel? I understand the 11-87 barrels are (mostly) pressure compensated, but does this feature make them larger at the gas ring than a non-compensated 1100 barrel?

Also, curious of the build date on this 11-87 since it does not have the barrel with it. SN is PC513XXX, I think it might be a1987-1988 receiver. Can anyone confirm my suspicion? I found a random internet post that PC633XXX was September 1998.... but internet, who knows.

Does anyone here own a comparable SN 11-87 and know the build date?

The receivers are identical, as are internal parts. The main difference is the barrel, with a 3-inch chamber on the 11-87 (except for some target models) and a spring serving as a gas valve encircling the barrel ring. Buttstocks are interchangeable, but forearms differ due to the slightly lengthened barrel ring.

The Synthetic forends fit 1187 and 1100.
Maybe in standard barrel profile only, am not familiar with the Light Contour bbl stuff.

Exactly the info I was looking for. Thank you.

Thank you, that helps.

Correction to first post as well. I had the date way off.

Right side of the receiver only says Special Purpose, not Special Purpose Mag. It's not an early build receiver, looks to be mid 90s from several comparable guns on GB.
