I've been looking for a nice used Trap shotgun. Came accross some nice used 1100's and 11-87's. Which is the better between the two? Both are the Trap variety

My choice would be the 1100 chambered in 2 3/4" only. That gives the best ejection of the lighter load shells usually used at the trap range. I have the Classic Trap 1100 and a field grade 1100 both in 2 3/4" only. Both function flawllessy with the lighter loads and/or the cheap stuff from WalMart.

I don't shoot or plan to shoot 3" or 3.5" shells. 2 3/4" shells will kill anything I plan to hunt, and over time my shoulder thanks me for it.

Just my $.02

1100

It's simpler.

Now I think there may be some 11-87's out there that are also 2 3/4" only and tuned to work well with lighter loads. I've seen Skeet models; maybe there are some trap models. Those should be very similar to an 1100 but perhaps have different foreend dimensions or something.

I'd still lean towards the 1100 due to availability of parts and accessories for competitive shooting, but the right 11-87 for the right price could be attractive.
