(I think I have the right model number of the Beretta there)

Some time ago I posted a request for suggestions regarding a good home defense/hunting shotgun and got a lot of suggestions for the Remington 1100. I saw both of these models the other day at wally world for about the same price (500 vs 529). The Remington has a wooden stock and the Beretta a black synthetic stock.

Suggestions as to which of the two is a better value?

I own both shotguns, neither for home defense. if i had to go with one or the other i would choose the 1100.

Both are excellent guns, i use mine for hunting.

12-34hom.

I have an 11-87 and have used it for several years. I bought a 390 this year from Wal-Mart and fired less than a box of shells through it. It is a great gun and does kill ducks, bunnies, and squirrel (at least mine has). However, it mounts way differently than a Remington. It does not come to my natural point of aim when shouldered. Now I am trying to sell a very slightly used 390 for a loss.
The moral of my story, if the Beretta shoulders to natural point of aim, buy it. If the Remington does, buy it.
