Just came into one for a song to use as my new bunny gun. Does anyone know how similar they are to an Ithaca 37? I have not as of yet pulled it apart, and I am just a bit curious.

After a quick tear down, I'm amazed at the similarity. Neat piece.

The 17 was the parent design, parts are not interchangeable.

The 17 is a fine shotgun. Enjoy....

Easy stuff...

One of my favorite 20 gauge guns in my collection....

Break down is straight forward...similar to the Ithaca 37.

The breech bolt is usually the first part that needs to be replaced. If you begin to get the occasional misfires, then you know where to start.

Have fun.

Melt, does it wear on the locking surface increasing headspace? Or is there something else I should be looking out for?

Well, got it tore down and lubed. Planning on taking my father in law's little blue tick out to run bunnies tomorrow morning, and we'll see how she does. I'm already liking it more than the A5 I have been using. This thing is very light and it feels as though the action is running on ball bearings. I suppose tomorrow will be the true test.:D
