Looks like it might be pretty nice-good wood, 5R rifling, adjustable trigger, MSRP is $710

Fondled one at the local shop, Trops, and it was a very nice gun, smooth action, great wood, good looking blueing, outrageous price.

I've heard the price is high and the accuracy is terrible.

I'm a 22RF nut, and follow all of the Forums where 22's are discussed. The consensus is that it is not accurate. And, the price is way too much for what you get.
Remington is coming out early next year with a re-do on the 504 to address the target shooter market. It will have a heavy barrel, adjustable trigger, laminated stock and go for around $700. I don't expect too much more in the accuracy department, but we'll see. The only other rifle in that price range that it will compete against would be the Kimber, and Kimber puts real Walnut on their rifles, not plywood, so I don't see a huge success in store for the "new" 504; only die hard Remington fans who will buy it.

Do yourself a favor and look around for a Remington 541T-HB if you want a Rem bolt .22. These are very accurate and have a good reputation. Only negative is the magazine protrouding from the bottom of the stock.
One can be had, in very good condition, for $500 or so.

There's an older Remingtion bolt-action .22 you might encounter, too. I posted looking for info about one, somewhere around here.
It's a model 341. A very simple, straightforward design. I managed to figure out how to take the one I have (it belongs to my Dad, now in his 70s and not shooting much, if at all) apart, cleaned it up and had it at the local range today.
At the available maximum distance, which I consider short for a rifle and Dad would simply have snickered at -- 50 feet -- it's considerably more accurate than I am. 'Scope is a little off but shot placement is as consistent as my aim. Keep the cross hairs on the left side of the 10 ring, and make a nice neat set of holes in the center of the target! (Okay, laugh -- I hadn't shot a long gun since I was 13 or 14 and I'm not that great with pistols, so I thought it was cool!)
I'm sure it's nothing special but it's a nice, basic rifle and the few examples I've found for sale have been priced to move. 15-shot tubular mag for .22LR, and it'll handle the shorter two 22 rounds as well, holding even more. (Don't ask me how that works, the elevator asembly smacks of black magic!)
