Hi! I've found a 513T 22lr and wonder if anyone have one and could share some info about them? Consider it being in good shape, are they accurate? any weak spots or common problems with them? Im asking becouse I've never seen one before. The barellength is 27' can I cut it to 24' and still get good accuracy and velocity?

The 513T is now considered almost a classic and collectors are paying well for good, unaltered ones. Many years ago when I began target shooting the 513T was considered a pretty fair entry level target rifles, the first step up to a Remington 37 or Winchester 52. I owned one when I was a teenager and so did other kids I shot with at our club. Biggest drawback was the trigger pull, which wasn't all that bad but not great either as compared to 37's and 52's. Shortening the barrel should not effect velocity or accuracy, provided it is expertly done. But why would want to do that? It will reduce value.

A lot of guns clubs that were in the old DCM program received 513-T rifles to use to train juniors.
A lot of us started off using them in regular club matches.
I used one of the club's rifles for several years before buying an Anschutz.
They all had Lyman Target rear sights and Globe type front sights.

When the club folded we returned all the 513-T's, several Winchester Model 52's and several Remington 40-X's along with about 15 M1 rifles.
I think all the 513-T, Model 52, and 40-X .22 rifles were ground up in "Captain Crunch" by the Army under orders from the Clinton administration.

The military also made heavy use of the 513-T as a training rifle which is where the DCM got them.
