Remington 550-1

Acquired from relative, big time dirty. Fifty years worth. Disassembled-now the carrier seems to be blocking the reassembly of the bolt. How much force should I use to put her back together? I do not wish to bend or break anything because when extremely filthy this thing is much better than my brand new SS Marlin. And I like it.

Try pulling the trigger and holding it back while inserting the bolt.

my grandfather left a 550-1 to me. it's a tackdriver, esp with a 4x weaver.

Already holding the trigger back for the first hurdle---bolt will not clear carrier. Lubed it and that did not do it either.
Got the book too.
