I’ve only been using CCI 400 for my 223 loads shooting out of an AR. I’ve acquired a couple thousand Remington 7 1/2 small rifle primers.
I’ve read that they are a magnum primer.
I figure I should work back up to my load of 24.5 grains of TAC and a 62 gr bthp. Has anyone shot both primers and can compare? This load is .5 less than max and should still be safe, though accuracy could change I suppose.
Thoughts?
Thank you,
David.

I've been working my way through a brick of 7 1/2 Benchrests that I have for some of my .223 loads. Formerly I had used CCI 400's. They say that the 7 1/2's are hotter with a thicker cup, but I can't say that I've noticed any difference.

In fact I'm going to test out some 80 gr. SMK's with different COL's that I've loaded with those primers and Rl15 shortly. I can't wait to start shooting again!

I shoot BlackHorn 209 in my Ruger old Army with Doak's primer capsules. According to my online research Rem 7 1/2 primers give out the biggest flame. Anyway, they work with a powder that's supposed to take a 209 shotgun primer to ignite it.

Use those primers and don't worry about it.
