Ok, I've been looking at getting a remington 700, and I'm want to get a high end stock for it, and be able to swap different rifles into the same stock, anyway my question is, does the 223 action fit the same stocks as the 308 action? And the stock I'm wanting takes accuracy international mags, are the 223 ai mags the same Dimensions as the 308 mags, or are they different?

Thanks

I had the B&C M40 stock and bottom metal from a Rem 700 5R available as I had mounted the 5R in an AIAX chassis. Note that the magazine box length and bottom metal from the .223 Rem 700 SPS-V is shorter than the .308. I just took the .308 box and bottom metal out and dropped in the .223 barreled action and bottom metal in the stock. Fit perfectly, and barrel is free-floated. I would expect that you can swap any SA Remington barreled action and accompanying bottom metal in and out although you may need to relieve contact points for some actions or barrels.

Good luck,

FH

My 222 rem and 260 have the same stock. The 222 has a piece of metal bent in a rectangle to go with the shorter follower.

why not check with the chassis mfr? they'll be able to tell you whether or not it'll work for sure.

@back40

Did that, there answer was ummm.... We think it might fit.

You'd think they'd know, but what I'm asking is unusual so here I am

@flatbush harry

Thank you, exactly what I was hoping to figure out.

huh. you'd think they'd know whether it was the same model/part # for both actions or not.

anywho....good luck!
