Remington 700 ADL .308 Questions (Updated Feb 01)

Can someone tell me if this is an ADL model 700 or which particular subgroup of the 700 line this is ?

I know for sure this is a 700, but I don't know enough to tell if it's an ADL or not.

Can someone tell me what one goes for new ?

Thanks.

That would be an ADL. It has nothing to do with the bolt or action. The ADL has a blind magazine. Meaning no floorplate. The only way I can tell from your pic is there's no magazine release on the trigger bow.

700's fall into 2 main categories. BDL's are not only a specific model but the term is also used to describe any model with a floorplate. ADL's have the blind magazine.

they've been discontinued, so there isn't a real standard price on them anymore. $350 - 400 is about right, though - before optics, etc.

Two more questions, please !

Can someone verify that the .308 gun pictured is the short action ?
I've heard that Remington made an ADL that was .308 chambered, but was long action to facilitate long action caliber conversions, which is why I ask.

Can a .308 ADL be had for $400 used ?

I called everywhere I could around Montgomery, Opelika, Auburn, and Wetumpka and the cheapest used .308 R-700 was $488 + tax for an SPS. Is that unusual ?

They are still listed in my 2008 Remington catalog.

Local Bi Mart around here was selling them (ADL Synthetics) new for $335. During the 2007 Hunting season. A guy in our hunting group bought one. Didn't notice what they were going for last hunting season.
