Remington 700 ADL vs. BDL

Can someone explain the major differences between the Remington 700 ADL and the BDL?

Remington has apparently discontinued the ADL version and now offers only the BDL. I found a NOS ADL at a decent price, but don't know if I should pass in favor of the higher priced current BDL version.

the adl is not quite as polished but the main differance is the adl does not have floor plate, so ammo has to come out the top when unloading. some claim the adl is more accurate because of stiffer stock, not sure about that. the adl is usually less expensive than bdl version in the same condition.

BDL's have a floorplate, usually nicer wood and has a shiny finish.

Floorplate vs no floorplate is the real difference.

The BDL usually has a little better wood stock, but Remington has offered many different variations of stocks on both versions including cheap plastic stocked versions of the BDL and high gloss versions of the ADL.

I think the ADL's have iron sights, too.

Other than the floorplate, the polish on the barrel, and the shape of the stock, there's no difference between the ADL and BDL; both use the same excellent 700 action.

If you have the chance to buy an ADL for a good price, do it!

I bought an ADL Varmint in 308 this past November at Dicks. Great rifle. After rebates it was only $419.

The BDL is a bit fancier. Depends on what you want. I prefer function over asthetics. I know if I had a $1k rifle in the woods and put a big scratch on it, I'd sit down and cry. That's why I really prefer synthetic for hunting. The ADL is just as good, just not as pretty.
